A new micro
encapsulation process for cellulosic and synthetic
fibers. Microscopic capsules of skin
emollients can be applied to the fibers via a specialty binder to give
durability to the finished goods. Unlike other encapsulations the capsule size
is only 5-8 microns in size. This assures unequalled fiber adhesion with the
appropriate binder. The capsules incorporate skin emollients such as aloe vera,
lanolins, vitamin E, and other proprietary skin enhancers. The encapsulation
can also contain virtually any type of fragrance to further enhance the
finished goods and remains durable as well. There is also a very wide selection
of encapsulations available such as anti statics,
anti bacterials, and many others.
General explanation as to
how the process works:
Through a specialty binder, the
capsules are chemically first attracted to the binder as it attaches to the
fibers. As the capsule attraction increases either through exhaustion or
padding, the binder then forms a film around the micro capsules, thereby
increasing their durability. Capsules will very slowly start to collapse
over time through normal washings and/or use. Thousands of capsules to the
fibers are literally embedded into the fibers per square inch ensuring that
they remain durable over a period of time.
With our proprietary binder,
softeners and capsules, the finished fabric is durable to repeated washings and
leaves an ultra-soft, luxurious “hand” to the fibers. Through normal end use
the capsules slowly break over long periods of time and is transferred to all
types of skin without any worry as to allergic reactions. The preferred method
of application is through padding, however, exhaustion
methods can also be employed.
After the process is applied,
the finished goods will have an ultra soft “hand” unlike any other convention
finishing methods. It is also resistant to spotting, offer chemical and solvent
resistance, non-yellowing, and increases the tensile strength of the fibers.

stability
Application:
For exhaustion- Premix Capsules
and binder with three times the weight of water. Adjust pH of water to 5.5-6.0.
Add wetting agent (generally .025%) and add to bath.
Mixture can then be added to
bath. Temperature should be 110 degrees F. Run goods for approximately 5-8
minutes.
Padding- Premix capsules and
binder with equal amounts of water. PH
should be between 7-8. Add wetting agent and then
mixture. Curing temperature should be 280 degrees F.
Note: Percentages vary upon
fabric construction, types of capsules and binder. Consult a representative for
additional information.

Micro Encapsulation Process For Textiles
Note:
There
are many other types of encapsulations available. It would almost be impossible
to list. To name a few are as follows:
·
Menthol-glycol
insect repellents
·
Malodors for anti
tobacco and other odor rejections (mainly used on drapery, athletic wear,
industrial fabrics, carpets, etc. On these types of fabrics tensile strength
and capsule longevity are increased by 25%.
·
Anti-bacterials, Anti-statics, Aloe-vera, for Textiles and Paper Products
·
Micro-capsules that
can actually lower the body temperature through garment contact by three-five
degrees. Usually used in athletic wear.
